Family-Run Liquor Store Expands THC Beverage Selection As Demand Grows In Somerset County

SOMERVILLE, NJ — A Bridgewater family-run liquor store in Somerville is expanding its THC beverage selection as interest grows among customers looking for alternatives to alcohol and a different kind of social drink.

Liquor Saver owner Pearl Amin said the category has grown quickly at the store, which now features what it believes is the largest selection of THC beverages in Somerset County.

"We’ve seen incredible growth in the category," said Amin. "Customers are coming from throughout New Jersey because they can’t find this variety anywhere else."

Run by Joy and her daughter Pearl Amin, the store is located on Union Avenue(Route 28) in the former Rite Aid building at 132 N Gaston Ave. in Somerville.

Amin said shoppers are seeking out a range of products, including sparkling waters, seltzers, teas, mocktails, lemonades, sodas and functional beverages.

Amin said many customers are trying THC beverages for the first time in a setting that feels more familiar than a dispensary.

"A lot of people are curious, but they don’t necessarily want to walk into a dispensary," Amin said. "They’re comfortable coming into their neighborhood liquor store, asking questions, and learning about the products without feeling overwhelmed."

According to Amin, the store carries larger 750 milliliter bottles, cans, and smaller bottles.

Amin also said some products are geared toward social settings, while others include CBD and CBG and are marketed as more relaxing options.

Amin said the store has also started selling individual cans, giving customers a lower-cost way to sample products before buying larger packs.

The in-store selection continues to grow, with seasonal flavors and additional brands being added.

"We believe THC beverages are still in the early innings," Amin said. "This reminds me of the early days of craft beer, when consumers were excited to discover new brands and new experiences."

Amin also said the store is continuing to invest in the category by adding products and helping customers learn about the options.

"People are driving from all over New Jersey to shop the category," Amin said. "It’s exciting to watch something completely new emerge and become part of the future of beverages. We’re proud that Liquor Saver has become a destination for customers looking to explore this rapidly growing category in a comfortable and familiar environment."
