BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Somerset Regional Animal Shelter is holding a monthlong July adoption event aimed at helping some of its longer-waiting pets find homes.
The shelter announced its "Freedom Fest" promotion for the entire month of July.
During the event, adoption fees are $50 for all adult cats and dogs that have been waiting 90 days or more.
The event is focused on pets the shelter says need "A second look," "A second chance," and "Someone to believe in them."
The shelter urged residents to visit and meet the animals in person.
"Are you ready to give a homeless pet the chance they need? Stop by the shelter to find your BFF!" the shelter said.
The shelter is open every day for adoptions from 12 to 3:30 p.m., though it will be closed July 4.
Residents who are not able to adopt can still help.
Community members can contribute by purchasing supplies from the shelter's Amazon Wishlist or to make a monetary donation visit srasnj.org/donate.
The shelter also encourages prospective adopters to preview available pets by visiting, petfinder.com/member/us/nj/bridgewater/somerset-regional-animal-shelter-nj32.
