BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater-Raritan High School honored three state championship teams on Monday after a winter season that brought a rare sweep of titles in boys swimming, girls swimming and ice hockey during the 2025-2026 school year.
The ceremony was held in the high school auditorium, where athletes and coaches from all three teams received state championship rings.
The audience included school district officials, along with families and friends of the state champion athletes.
Superintendent Robert Beers and Athletic Director Bill Deniz welcomed the crowd and congratulated the teams.
High School Principal Dan Hemberger and Deniz then handed the rings to the recipients.
The three titles came during a standout winter for Bridgewater-Raritan athletics. The boys and girls swim teams each won the Group A state championship on the same day, Feb. 25, at the Neptune Aquatic Center.
The boys team, led by Head Coach Evan Seavey and Assistant Coach Max Newill, defeated Somerset County rival Hillsborough High School, 108-62, in the state final meet.
The win capped a 12-0 season and gave the program its fifth state championship and first since 2018.
The girls team, guided by Coach Chris Levin and Assistant Coach Laura Karns, finished 12-1 after defeating Cherry Hill High School East, 108-62, in the state championship meet.
That victory earned the program its sixth state title and first since 2019.
Bridgewater-Raritan also captured its first Public state championship in ice hockey.
The team defeated Ridgewood High School, 2-0, in the state final on Monday, March 9, at the Prudential Center in Newark, home of the NHL's New Jersey Devils.
The ice hockey team was led by Head Coach Vincent Arnone and Assistant Coach Steve Diamond. Bridgewater-Raritan finished that season with a 23-3-1 record.
