State rejects challenge to Bridgewater-Raritan gifted program cut (mycentraljersey.com) β Bridgewater parents should know the state has upheld a ruling allowing the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District to eliminate its Academically Independent gifted program for grades 2β4. Fewer than 70 students were enrolled, and officials say the cut will save about $500,000 annually while shifting advanced instruction into the existing Gifted and Talented services in neighborhood schools.

Bridgewater Discusses Data Centers, Considers Plans for Ordinance (tapinto.net) β Bridgewater officials are reworking how data centers and other land uses will be handled, after pulling two specific data center ordinances and instead advancing a broader zoning update tied to the township master plan. Mayor Mathew Moench, council members, and planners are debating whether to tightly limit or require variances for potential data centers, including at the long-discussed 1200 Route 22 Greymark property. An ad hoc group is expected to craft a hybrid ordinance for upcoming meetings.

Bridgewater Nonprofit Plans Comedy Night With 7 Stand-Up Acts (patch.com) β Bridgewater residents can enjoy a seven-comedian "Comedy Night" fundraiser for the Open Door Arts Center on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. at The PeopleCare Center on Finderne Avenue. Tickets are $20, with advance online sales starting Sept. 1 and cash-only sales at the door. The all-volunteer arts nonprofit is also seeking local volunteers interested in acting, directing, writing, or backstage work.
