Motorcyclist Dies In Crash With Truck At Somerset County Intersection

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A motorcyclist was killed following a crash with a pickup truck on Sunday in Bridgewater.

On Sunday around 4:12 p.m., Bridgewater Police officers went to the intersection of Finderne Avenue and East Main Street and found a disabled 2017 Ford F-150.

The truck was driven by a 68-year-old man from Somerville, who was not injured, said Bridgewater Police Sgt. Kevin Florczak.

Police also reportedly found a disabled 2014 Suzuki GSX motorcycle, which had extensive damage.

"The motorcycle operator, a 29-year-old man from Somerset, was found lying in the roadway. He was unresponsive and not breathing," said Florczak.

Officers immediately began CPR before the motorcyclist was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Somerville, where he died from his injuries, said Florczak.

A preliminary investigation found that the motorcycle was driving south on Finderne Avenue in the right lane and the Ford F-150 was driving north.

The Ford F-150 reportedly tried to make a left turn onto East Main Street and turned directly into the motorcycle's path.

The motorcycle then hit the passenger side of the Ford F-150, causing the motorcyclist to be ejected, said Florczak.

Finderne Avenue was closed for around three hours while officers investigated.

Bridgewater Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit are continuing to investigate the crash.
