Boy Hit By Pick-Up Truck On Route 22, Hospitalized With Serious Injuries In Somerset Co.

The boy reportedly ran across the highway in front of the Ford F-250 before being hit on Tuesday. A medivac flew the boy to the hospital.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A boy was taken by medivac to a hospital with serious injuries on Tuesday after police say he ran across Route 22 in Bridgewater and was hit by a pickup truck.

At around 4:13 p.m., a Ford F-250 was driving on Route 22 West near Commons Way in Bridgewater.

When the truck was about "100 feet west of the exit ramp from Commons Way, the Ford F-250 hit a juvenile boy who ran south across the highway, directly in front of the truck," according to a preliminary investigation.

After being hit, the boy came to rest in the shoulder of Route 22 West, said police.

The boy was taken to Robert Wood Johnson, New Brunswick, via Medevac helicopter with serious injuries.

This crash remains under investigation by the Bridgewater Township Police Department's Traffic Safety Bureau.
