Shuttered Redstone Grill Restaurant, Lord & Taylor Space May Get New Tenants At Bridgewater Commons Mall (patch.com) — Bridgewater residents could soon see new life at Bridgewater Commons Mall, as officials report early movement on a liquor license transfer for the long-vacant Redstone Grill space and progress regaining control of the former Lord & Taylor store. Councilman Timothy Ring called both developments encouraging signs that the large empty storefronts may finally be marketed to new tenants, potentially boosting the township's regional shopping hub.
2. Bridgewater-Raritan HS Has 18 National Merit Semifinalists, Most In 5 Years (patch.com) — Bridgewater-Raritan High School just celebrated 18 students being named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, the school's highest total in five years. The growing number of honorees highlights both students' hard work and the strength of Bridgewater's academic programs, with finalists competing for millions in scholarships next spring.
3. No Decision On Bridgewater Storage Facility, More Revisions Made To Farm Stand Plan (patch.com) — A proposed self-storage facility on Route 28 is still under review as Bridgewater officials and residents debate how to preserve Melick's long-running farm stand and possibly a nearby historic-style home. The Zoning Board will continue the hearing Oct. 13 at 7 p.m., with in-person attendance at the municipal building and livestreaming on the township's YouTube channel.
4. Yankees Slugger Giancarlo Stanton Could Return For Playoffs After 5-Month Absence (commstrader.com) — Bridgewater baseball fans may have noticed extra buzz at TD Bank Ballpark as Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton played in a rehab game there, testing his calves after a five-month absence. His performance in Somerset could determine whether he returns, at least as a pinch-hitter, for the Yankees' looming playoff showdown with the Red Sox.
