Why are you seeking re-election for the Bridgewater-Raritan Board of Education?

The twelve years serving on the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District Board of Education has been one of the greatest honors of my life. My commitment to this district is fueled by a deep love for our community and an unwavering passion for our students' success. Every child in Bridgewater and Raritan deserves a public education that challenges them intellectually, supports them socially and emotionally, and prepares them to thrive in a rapidly changing world. That single-minded focus on student achievement has guided every vote I have cast, every committee meeting I have led,
and every policy I have helped shape.

As a forthright leader, I have always believed in communicating with complete honesty and integrity. Earning public trust means being forthcoming with our community, even when the answers or decisions are difficult. I recognize that leadership often requires making choices that may not align with every individual request, but my duty as a board
trustee is clear: to make decisions that deliver the greatest benefit for all students across our entire district. I am proud to bring a collaborative, flexible, and grounded perspective to our board—leaving political polarization and procedural friction at the door so we can keep our focus entirely on classroom excellence.

True fiscal stewardship isn't about cutting corners; it's about maximizing the impact of every available dollar directly where it matters most: in student learning. Over my tenure, I have worked tirelessly to ensure our district acts with financial prudence while continually expanding academic opportunities. We proved what responsible governance looks like when we secured additional state aid to help fund a substantial part of the referendum, bringing full-day kindergarten and critical facility upgrades to our district while insulating local taxpayers. Every dollar saved is a dollar reinvested in our teachers, our classrooms, and our children.

Looking ahead, our district faces new challenges and exciting opportunities. Navigating these complexities requires experienced, steady leadership with deep operational
insight and a proven record of results. I am running for re-election to continue advocating for fiscal responsibility, forward-thinking policy development, and, above all,
the success and well-being of every student in Bridgewater-Raritan. I humbly ask for your vote so we can continue building a school district that makes our entire community proud.

Transparency in government is important for the community. Do you feel the BOE is transparent, and how would you increase transparency?

Transparency is far more than a campaign slogan. It is a commitment to communicating with complete honesty, integrity, and clarity. Over my 12 years on the Board of Education, I have always operated under the principle that earning public trust means being sincere with our community, whether we are navigating budget constraints, modernizing facilities, or updating policy.

To build on this foundation of sincere communication, I am focused on three areas:

Transparency is proven through our willingness to communicate openly and treat our stakeholders as true partners. By pairing clear, proactive communication with trusted leadership, we strengthen public trust and ensure every family in Bridgewater-Raritan feels informed, valued, and confident in the direction of our schools.

With rising healthcare costs and inflation, how do you propose keeping tax increases to a minimum?

Navigating state tax caps against rising healthcare costs and inflation requires proactive, structural cost containment rather than short-term fixes. Over my 12 years on the Board of Education, I have prioritized disciplined financial management that protects local taxpayers while ensuring every available dollar directly supports classroom learning.

Keeping tax increases to a minimum demands rigorous operational efficiency across every area. To control rising healthcare costs, we shifted to a self-insured healthcare model, gaining greater oversight over claims data, reducing administrative overhead, and stabilizing year-over-year premium adjustments. At the same time, we continually right size staffing and align district resources directly with student enrollment trends, reallocating existing operational funds straight into classroom instruction rather than placing new burdens on taxpayers. We complement this by leveraging best-practice purchasing methods — utilizing joint purchasing cooperatives for bulk supplies, optimizing transportation routes, and expanding shared service agreements with state and local agencies to cut service and vendor costs.

My track record proves that this approach delivers real results. When designing the $154 million facilities referendum, strategically structuring the bond to capture 32 percent in state debt service aid, securing full-day kindergarten and critical infrastructure upgrades for our district while insulating local homeowners from absorbing the full cost.

Minimizing tax increases isn't about compromising educational quality; it is about demanding fiscal precision across every operation. By pairing disciplined purchasing
and structural cost controls with trusted leadership, we can continue delivering an outstanding education while respecting the financial realities of our Bridgewater and Raritan taxpayers.

What other issues do you feel need to be tackled in the BOE?

Beyond structural fiscal discipline, long-term excellence requires proactive leadership across three interconnected priorities: managing enrollment shifts, investing in our teaching talent, and preserving our facility investments as education evolves.

Proactive long-range planning adjusts for demographic fluctuations. By continuously evaluating facility utilization and rightsizing staffing across our neighborhood schools, we can optimize space, maintain ideal class sizes, and protect specialized programming ensuring district resources align directly with student density without fiscal waste.

BRRSD must remain a destination district for attracting and retaining top-tier educators. Exceptional educators need a fostering and collaborative professional environment that
supports continuous learning including competitive compensation and responsive leadership. Experienced, dedicated teachers provide the stability and high-impact
instruction our students deserve every day.

Finally, we must actively protect and adapt our physical infrastructure following our referendum. We must plan for systematic maintenance cycles to safeguard these
assets for decades to come.

Learning spaces must evolve alongside modern instructional needs through configuring classrooms for emerging technology and artificial intelligence. Maintaining balanced boundaries against digital distractions, such as bell-to-bell cell phone rules will keep the focus firmly on student engagement.

What is your favorite thing about being a part of Bridgewater-Raritan Schools?

My favorite thing about serving on the Board of Education is creating opportunities for every single student to achieve, discover their passions, and grow.

Every policy we refine, budget we balance, and facility upgrade we deliver is aimed at opening doors for our children. The ultimate reward is seeing what our students accomplish with those opportunities - watching them excel across every facet of district life, from academics and modern STEM programs to the fine arts, athletics, and community service. Their incredible talent, resilience, and growth are a constant reminder of why I love Bridgewater-Raritan and why I remain so passionate about serving our schools.
