BRIDGEWATER, NJ — The Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District was listed among the best school districts in the state and was ranked among the top 35 school districts in New Jersey, according to Niche's 2027 Best School Districts in America.
The rankings released recently placed the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District 34th best in New Jersey and 522nd out of 10,449 in America.
This is a step up from the 2026 rankings when the Bridgewater-Raritan district ranked 35th best in New Jersey and 569th in America.
According to the 2027 rankings, the district ranks the 4th best in Somerset County, the 42nd best school district for athletes in NJ, the 149th best district with the best teachers in NJ, and the 104th best district for places to teach in NJ.
"These ratings reinforce the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District's commitment to academic excellence and a high-level student experience in all of our buildings," according to the school district. "Congratulations to our teachers, administrators, parents, and students who made this possible."
Bridgewater-Raritan has 7,864 students with a student-teacher ratio of 14 to 1. According to state test scores, 58 percent of students are at least proficient in math and 70 percent in reading.
Niche gave the Bridgewater-Raritan School District a letter grade of A. Grades in specific categories were:
Niche's rankings combine federal and state data, school statistics, and over 3 million reviews from students, parents, and teachers to evaluate schools beyond test scores.
This year, Niche updated its methodology and created separate public and private rankings for categories including arts, diversity, college prep and teachers. It also introduced school-type-specific methodologies for boarding schools and private online high schools.
"Families deserve a complete view of their options, whether they're evaluating schools in their area or exploring what's available elsewhere," Niche founder and CEO Luke Skurman said in a news release.
