BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater author Amy Jensen is introducing a new dog-inspired book series featuring her rescue dog, Nosy Norvin.

Jensen penned two books. A picture book, "Detective Nosy Norvin and the Case of the Mysterious Poop," and a chapter book, "Nosy Norvin Confessions of an Inside Pooper."

Jensen had previously written six books in the Chuckie the Chocolate Lab series.

Her new series marks a shift in format for her work since her Chuckie books all rhymed, while the new picture book does not.

Her new series focuses on Norvin, her 5-year-old rescue lab mix.

"He's a rescue dog. He's completely unique. And he's about to become the star of two new books," according to Jensen's Kickstarter.

Her new book series is also focusing on embracing being and thinking differently.

"As an author with ADHD, I created Nosy Norvin to celebrate neurodivergence, individuality, rescue dogs, kindness, and all the things that make us uniquely ourselves," said Jensen.

According to Jensen, the picture book is "a silly look at being forgetful and ways we can ensure we remember to do the important stuff each day."

Jensen said the idea grew from Norvin's tendency to get distracted outside.

"I don't know if dogs can have ADHD, but I certainly have ADHD, and I know how easily I get distracted from doing important things," Jensen said.

Jensen saw similar traits in Norvin and decided this would be a great teaching moment for children.

"I'm a teacher. I see that this is an issue with my students as well, just trying to stay on task. And I thought, let me write this fun book. This silly book about a real-life dog with his real-life little quirk," said Jensen.

For the chapter book, Jensen is hoping to reach readers who may have aged beyond her earlier children's books.

"This chapter book will give those kids who are upper elementary and middle school, and even high school," a book to read.

She described it as Norvin's memoir and said it includes his rescue story, sibling dynamics, forgetfulness and other episodes from his life.

"I just want children to feel like even if you're different, even if your brain thinks differently than other people, like that's actually a positive," Jensen said.

To support her new endeavors, Jensen launched a Kickstarter campaign, which runs until Nov. 12, where readers can pre-order books, pledge for autographed copies of the Norvin picture book and chapter book, along with many other reward tiers.
