Democrat newcomer Rebecca Bennett has unseated incumbent Republican Tom Kean Jr. to represent the 7th District in the House of Representatives, according to the Associated Press.

Bennett was leading Kean Jr. 148,433 to 94,388 with 70 percent of the precincts counted, according to the AP as of 10 p.m.

Stop Israel's Genocide Seamus Patrick O'Toole was also in the running but only achieved 3,487 votes, according to the AP.

Kean Jr. was seeking his third term in office. However, he had a 117-day absence during the year.

After being absent for almost four months, on June 30 Kean revealed he was diagnosed with depression after entering the hospital.

Bennett, a former Navy pilot and health care executive, will now take his place come January 2027.

All results are unofficial until certified.
