Freeholder Robert Zaborowski announced that the Somerset County Senior Wellness Center, located at 202 Mount Airy Road, will host two different Arthritis Foundation Tai Chi sessions for residents age 60 and above on Monday afternoons starting in August.
The first session, a four-week class, will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on August 4, 11, 18 and 25. The cost for this program is $20.
The Senior Wellness Center will host a second class in September. The six-week session will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sept. 8, 15, 22 and 29, Oct. 6 and 13. The cost for the second program is $30.

Space is limited, and advance registration is requested. To obtain a registration form, call (908) 704-6346. Payment and completed registration forms should be mailed prior to the first class to Barbara Karpinski, Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services, PO Box 3000, Somerville NJ 08876. Checks can be made payable to the Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services (SCOOADS).
Arthritis Foundation Tai Chi classes are suitable for every fitness level. The Arthritis Foundation Tai Chi Program uses gentle Sun-style Tai Chi routines that are safe, easy to learn, and accessible for individuals at any fitness level. Tai Chi may help reduce stress, increase balance and flexibility, and induce relaxation. Each session includes warm-up and cool-down exercises, six core movements and six advance extension movements and direction changes to add challenge.
