SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — Basking Ridge husband and wife team, Betty and Tom Lee, are setting off on a new food venture with the opening of Gong Cha, a new bubble tea house, in Bridgewater.
The grand opening for the second Somerset County location will kick off on Saturday at 1329 Prince Rodgers Ave. in Bridgewater. Betty Lee said this location is owned separately from the other location inside Bridgewater Commons.
During the grand opening weekend, April 1 and 2, customers can get a buy 1 get 1 free on their top 10 drinks. The offer is valid at the Prince Rodgers location only and slush and hot beverages are excluded.

Lee and her husband are both Taiwanese and previously owned Sono Sushi in Middletown for 27 years. The restaurant was very successful but as their kids got older Lee said they wanted more time to spend as a family.
She always loved Gong Cha as a patron and the franchise itself and decided to open her own location.

"This is something I wanted to do for a very long time. I knew we couldn't stary too far from food," said Lee.
The pair looked for a location that was near kids, had a lot of foot traffic and was near highways. Her location in Bridgewater is right near the baseball field, the Bridgewater-Raritan High School, and other business being in the Bridgewater shopping center.
Lee's location stands out as she has a big focus on customer service.
"Customer service is a big deal. I train the kids here to be kind, be nice, and care to make people feel welcome," said Lee. "I am old-school when it comes to customer service."
Lee and her husband are excited to kick off their new business and invite customers to "come in for a drink."
