‘Bizarre Love Story’ To Be Featured At Somerville’s VilleFest

SOMERVILLE, NJ — Montclair graduate and Middlesex local Dom Lampasona’s "Kickstart My Heart" is among the films to be shown at the inaugural VilleFest in Somerville on Saturday.

"The film is about a bizarre love story, my twist on a rom-com (romantic comedy)," Lampasona said.

It revolves around a group of thieves or lowlifes who are terrible at stealing. They then find one target who is rich but turns out to be the protagonist’s childhood crush.

Lampasona began filming in March as part of his senior thesis. This is his second completed film, but first to be selected in a festival.

"It’s awesome to showcase all of my hard work," Lampasona said. "It’s overwhelming, it’s the biggest thing I have done so far."

Growing up, Lampasona has always loved film.

"I’ve had a passion since I was a little kid," Lampasona said. "I’ve always made videos and wrote stories. I then went to film school and it took off from there."

"Kickstart My Heart" will be shown at Somerville's first film festival which was brought to town by Bridgewater-Raritan High School grads Steven Chiocchi and Kyle Marino. (See Related: Bridgewater Locals To Bring Film Festival To Somerville)

The film will be shown under the These Are Shorts: Some Narrative & Some Documentary category that airs from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the St. John's Episcopal Church on W High St.
