Bound Brook Man Charged With DWI After Fleeing Scene Of Crash

A Bound Brook man was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a crash in Bridgewater and leaving the scene, police report.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A Bound Brook man was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a crash in Bridgewater and leaving the scene, police report.

On April 18 at approximately 9:13 p.m., Demetrio Vargas-Ponce, 56, crashed his car while driving on Commons Way.

After being processed for the arrest, Vargas-Ponce was issued the following motor vehicle summonses: DWI, refusal to submit to chemical testing of his breath, reckless driving, failure to maintain traffic lane, unlicensed driver, failure to wear a seat belt, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash and failure to report a motor vehicle crash. He was released with a pending court appearance, Bridgewater Police report.

On April 22: Fuquan Jones, 25, of Plainfield was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana), after being stopped for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 West. After being processed for the arrest, Jones was issued the following motor vehicle summonses and criminal complaint: failure to maintain traffic lane, driving with a suspended driver’s license, possession of controlled dangerous substance (CDS) in a motor vehicle and possession of marijuana. He was released with a pending court appearance.
