Brake Cleaner Explodes, Burns Mechanic At Route 22 Car Dealership In Bridgewater
The mechanic was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital New Brunswick for his burns on Wednesday.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A mechanic working at a car dealership off Route 22 in Bridgewater was taken to the hospital with burn injuries after a can of brake cleaner exploded on Wednesday, said Bridgewater Police Lt. Douglas Thorsen.
On Feb. 19 at 11:56 a.m., the Bridgewater Township Police went to Ray Catena Infiniti of Bridgewater, at 1350 Route 22, to help an injured 21-year-old employee.
The mechanic was working on vehicles at the Infiniti Service Center and tried to pick up a can of brake cleaner that was near a receptacle of dirty/hot engine oil, said Thorsen.

The can of brake cleaner exploded, which also caused hot engine oil to spray on the mechanic, said Thorsen.
A fire extinguisher was used to put out a small fire. The victim received burns as a result of the explosion.

He was treated by medical personnel at the scene and taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital New Brunswick.
