Branchburg Man Killed While Crossing Route 202
A Branchburg man who tried to cross Route 202 was fatally hit by a car driven by a Hillsborough resident on Monday night, police said.

BRANCHBURG, NJ — A Branchburg man who tried to cross Route 202 was fatally hit by a car on Monday night, authorities said.
At around 7:40 p.m. Surinder Singh, 39, crossed the grass median on Route 202 near Huyler Road in Branchburg and was trying to cross the southbound lanes when he stepped into the path of a 2019 Acura being driven by a Hillsborough Township, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson and Somerset County Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor said.
First responders started lifesaving measures before Singh was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset where he was pronounced dead at 9:11 p.m., Robertson said.

The roadway was closed while a joint investigation was started by the Somerset Prosecutor’s Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) and the Branchburg Township Police Department.
No summonses have been issued and the driver remained at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
