BRHS Girls Soccer Score Win At the Last Second
Panthers defeat North Hunterdon in second overtime.
The Bridgewater-Raritan High School girls soccer team scored defeated North Hunterdon 2-1 Tuesday in double-overtime.
With seconds to go in the second overtime session, Bridgewater-Raritan captain Melanie Greco took a pass on the left side of the field, moved to center and drove the ball into the right side of the goal past North Hunterdon goalkeeper Jessica Weeder for the game-winner.
"I am always that last-minute player," Greco said of the goal coming with one second left in the game.

The game started slowly for both teams, but North Hunterdon senior forward Sam Beadle hit a high lob at the Bridgewater-Raritan goal about 18 minutes into the first half.
The shot came in at an unplayable angle for Bridgewater-Raritan goalkeeper Casey Murphy, when it went off her hands into the crossbar and bounced around the goal box before crossing the line.

The Panthers, however, came out of halftime much more aggressive. About 28 minutes in, Bridgewater-Raritan's Lauren Hall took a ball from the 30, drove past the defense and took on the goalkeeper one-on-one to score the tying goal.
The Panthers continued to dominate the game throughout the second half. Regulation ended in a 1-1 tie, and Bridgewater-Raritan continued to press through the two overtimes.
The Bridgewater-Raritan girls had 12 shots to five for North Hunterdon and one save to six by North Hunterdon.
As time wore down, the Panthers attacked repeatedly, keeping the ball on the North Hunterdon side of the field before Greco's game-winning tally.
Coach Kelliann Brennan said she was extremely pleased with her team's performance.
For Greco, she said she felt that this was pretty much standard for their games.
"We started a little shaky, but we are known as a second-half team," she said. "When we put our whole heart into it, I think we are unstoppable."
Bridgewater-Raritan will next play at Pingry on Thursday.
