BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater local Dominic Palombi has debuted his first jazz album called “As The Sun Rises.”
The album was launched in October and took about a year and half to come together.
Palombi started playing the drums when he was 10 years old. He had originally wanted to take piano lessons just like his twin sisters but the drums drew him in.

“I started playing the drums and it was love at first sight,” Palombi told Patch.
He studied the drums for eight years and even played them while attending Bridgewater-Raritan Regional High School. He graduated in 2012 and continued his studies in the music field at Rutgers University.

After graduating RU in 2016, Palombi began learning more about drums which led to enhaning his knowledge in jazz.
He began playing gigs with friends around the area and in August 2016 is when he recorded eight of his songs that were all instrumental and jazz fusion.
“Jazz was interesting not only from going to school and learning a little about it... But the biggest thing I like about it is the history that comes from jazz,” Palombi said. “There are so many art forms nowadays that really came about because of jazz.”
Palombi also leans towards the jazz style because he loves the ability it has for improvisation.
A CD release party was held in November with great feedback. Now Palombi is looking to expand his professional music career.
“I have a couple of gigs coming up with my band,” Palombi said. “I want to keep myself immersed in music in anyway shape or form.”
Palombi’s “As The Sun Rises” is available on multiple platforms including Spotify, ITunes and Amazon.
