BRHS Students To Perform Disney High School Musical

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater Raritan High School’s Theatre Arts multi-talented cast is set to explore a story of first love, friendship, and acceptance as they perform Disney High School Musical on May 2 to 4.

Through catchy songs and exciting choreography, Disney High School Musical tells the story of East High School and the disruption caused when the captain of the basketball team, Troy, and brainiac, Gabriella, decide to go against the norm and audition for the school musical.

The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians, and Skaters all have a hard time accepting Troy and Gabriella "Breaking Free" of their cliques, but everyone just may learn that they too don't have to "Stick to the Status Quo” and can find new ways to express themselves.

Heather Diaforli-Day, the show’s Director/Musical Director, said she chose Disney High School Musical because she wanted something that would really appeal to the entire Bridgewater-Raritan community.

"I am thrilled to have so many students that have committed an incredible amount of time and energy to putting this show together," said Diaforli-Day. "My hope is that younger students in the community will be inspired to join our theatre program in the years to come!"

With a book by David Simpatico, songs by Matthew Gerrard and Robbie Nevil; Ray Cham, Greg Cham and Andrew Seeley; Randy Petersen and Kevin Quinn; Andy Dodd and Adam Watts; Bryan Louiselle; David N. Lawrence and Faye Greenberg; Jamie Houston, and music adapted, arranged and produced by Bryan Louiselle, Disney High School Musical is based on a Disney Channel Original Movie written by Peter Barsocchini.

"The Theatre Arts students are talented, driven, and full of wonderful creativity. I simply can't wait for the audience to hear their voices and watch them tell this story," said Diaforli-Day.

All performances will be at 7 p.m. on May 2, 3, and 4, in the Bridgewater Raritan High School Auditorium, 600 Garretson Rd., Bridgewater.

Pre-sale tickets are available online at our.show/BRHSMusical for $15/adults and $7/students and seniors. Tickets will also be available at the door for $18/adults, $10/students and seniors. Senior citizens residing in the Bridgewater-Raritan School district are free with proof of residency.
