Bridgewater: Barry's Appliance & TV Hosts Cooking Extravaganza

Barry’s Appliance & TV of Bridgewater will host a Cooking Extravaganza featuring Jersey Fresh produce on Wednesday, Sept. 3 to benefit Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset’s Steeplechase Cancer Center in Somerville.

Presented in conjunction with Somerset Health Care Foundation and the New Jersey Department of Agriculture’s Jersey Fresh Program, the event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m.at 565 Union Ave. (Route 28) in Bridgewater.

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset’s executive chef Peter Pascale will conduct live cooking demonstrations and tastings of four healthy recipes featuring Jersey Fresh fruits and vegetables. New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture Doug Fisher and Assistant Secretary of Agriculture Al Murray will answer questions about the Jersey Freshprogram and highlight Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset’s efforts to promote the use of Jersey Fresh fruits and vegetables in patient meals and through its summer farmer’s market. Barry’s Appliance & TV is the first independently owned retail business outside of the produce industry that has partnered with Jersey Fresh.

Melick’s Town Farm will have Jersey Fresh produce available. The first 250 guests will receive a free gift bag. Light refreshments will be available.

Participants may purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win over $10,000 in prizes. Prizes include items donated by General Electric, Bosch Home Appliances, Electrolux Home Appliances, Miele, Big Green Egg and more. The raffle drawing will be held on October 1 at 12:30 p.m. in the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset Cafeteria.
