Bridgewater Commons Goes Pink For Breast Cancer Awareness

A month-long series of special events will be held at the mall in celebration of October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater Commons is hosting a month-long series of special events in celebration of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The events are in partnership with the Steeplechase Cancer Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) Somerset and Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey to educate and encourage women to schedule annual mammograms and embrace hope.

  • MUSIC OF HOPE WITH THE NJ SYMPHONY CHAMBER PLAYERS: Taking place Sat. Oct. 15 from 1 to 2 p.m. in Center Court, an inspirational concert will be held with a talented string quartet, a proud partner of RWJUH Somerset, along with an educational session about breast cancer awareness.
  • MAKEOVERS: Taking place at Bloomingdale’s, breast cancer patients from the Steeplechase Cancer Center will be invited to a private fashion presentation by a Bloomingdale’s stylist and receive gift bags, makeup services, lunch and a shopping spree.
  • ‘TABLES OF HOPE’ AND WORKSHOPS:
    • Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28 – RWJUH Somerset will set up ‘Tables of Hope’ near the Food Court to discuss the importance of early detection and screening for breast cancer and assist women with scheduling their annual mammogram. Attendees will receive a complimentary gift, while supplies last, and information on breast health.
    • Sat., Oct. 22, 1pm – 3pm: RWJUH Somerset will offer breast cancer discussions, screenings and a workshop in the Community Hub (Main Level next to Verizon Wireless).
  • MURALS AND MORE: Breast cancer awareness reminders on display throughout the center.
    • Eye-catching graphics including a 30-foot mural on a Lower Level storefront (across from Build-A-Bear) and a 16-foot decal in Center Court (installed Oct.10), among other reminders on display encouraging women to take action against the disease.
    • Bridgewater Commons Security Goes PINK! – Allied Universal, the center’s security provider, will have their standard florescent yellow colors go pink during October. Center visitors will notice the color change to uniforms and on security patrol cars.
