Bridgewater Family To Open Nailed It DIY Studio

Angelina Rivera, her husband Javier Flores and 2 daughters Karina and Kayla are opening the do-it-yourself studio in Somerville this spring.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater mother Angelina Rivera has always been very crafty and loved the whole do-it-yourself thing.

She would always make projects and crafts inspired by Pinterest. Now she is taking her passion and turning it into a career as she opens her own franchise location of Nailed It DIY Studio in Somerville.

A proposed opening for her location at 46 E Main St., next to Salted Lime, is expected around June 1.

Rivera has lived in Bridgewater with her husband Javier Flores and two daughters Kayla and Karina for many years. The idea to open their first ever business in Somerville was sparked while on a family vacation in the Carolinas.

Her family came across a Nailed It franchise location and immediately fell in love. She saw how easy it was for her to construct projects in a studio rather than bringing "the mess into my home."

"I had my two daughters with me and saw how much they enjoyed it," Rivera said. "I thought why not turn my passion into a career."

Nailed It offers a variety of projects to choose from including wood serving trays, wood signs, home decor, gifts, blankets and more.

"You can build a coffee bar sign to hold your mugs or just make anything personal to your home," Rivera said. "You can pick your own colors and customize each project to match your style or home or even friend’s or kid’s room."

What sets Nailed It apart from other craft studios is that there are no scheduled classes.

"Making scheduled workshops is too restrictive and not everyone wants to make the same thing or be locked into a time," Rivera said.

This allows shoppers to stop in and do a quick project whenever they like. All of the materials are available at the studio already as well.

Rivera noted she plans on hosting specialized nights such as a Pinterest night, mom’s night, or laundry room sign night.

The studio is BYOB and does allow snacks.

There is also a private room in the back to hold parties such as birthday, bachelorette, baby showers, team building and more. For larger parties the first half of the studio can be reserved.
