Aging Bridgewater Firehouse In Need Of Repairs, Event To Raise Funds To Help

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater volunteer firefighters are in need of help to repair its aging 100-year-old firehouse.

In an effort to raise funds, the Bradley Gardens Volunteer Fire Company is hosting a unique high-energy music and audience interactive comedy show.

Presented by Howl2Go Entertainment, a live Dueling Pianos event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14. The event will be held from 6 to 10:30 p.m. at the firehouse at 24 Old York Road in Bridgewater.

What is Dueling Pianos?

A dueling piano consists of two grand pianos, two charismatic, hilarious entertainers behind the keys, and an audience that will laugh and dance into the night. Throughout the night the piano players play audience-requested songs. The pianists sing and battle back and forth with comedic commentary and hilarious banter.

What to expect at a Dueling Piano show?

In this musical feast for the senses, two piano players face each other and take turns singing. It's a battle to the… well, to the entertainment of the crowd. The show can be all- or partial-request, and songs are masterfully executed by professional musicians.

The event will include a buffet dinner provided, sponsored by Mangia Buono caterers in Raritan including chicken, shrimp, eggplant, sausage and peppers, salad, dinner rolls, dessert and more.

There will also be a cash bar and 50/50 tickets available. Door prizes have been donated from The Hive, Scott's Florist and other local businesses.

Fire House In Desperate Need Of Repairs

All sales benefit the 100 percent volunteer fire department, to help ensure they can serve the community. In particular, the fire company needs help repairing its aging firehouse.

The Firehouse was established in 1935. Prior to that the building was a stagehouse and then a school.

"It is one of the oldest buildings in Bridgewater Township for emergency response. It has more upkeep and we strive to do as much as we can," said Bradley Gardens Volunteer Fire Company President Michelle DeLorenzo.

Some of the ongoing repairs include roof leaks from the old chimneys, a failing foundation, and a parking lot riddled with potholes and in need of repaving.

The volunteers, who not only serve Bridgewater but help surrounding towns, are doing their best with what they have but DeLorenzo said they "need help with donations."
