Bridgewater Gives Mixed Reviews To Murphy's Gym Reopening Plan
"I am cautiously optimistic following Governor Murphy's announcement," Bridgewater Mayor Matthew Moench said.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Gov. Phil Murphy's announcement Wednesday to finally allow gyms to reopen amid the coronavirus is getting mixed reviews.
Life Time, a luxury fitness center at 145 Commons Way, in Bridgewater is excited to reopen.
"Our clubs were built for community and we have missed our members and being together! We couldn't be more excited to finally reopen all six of our New Jersey-based locations beginning this coming Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 5 a.m. Our commitment is relentless to assure both members and our team members have confidence returning with our expanded cleaning and safety protocols for every area and program," a spokesman with Life Time stated.

"I am cautiously optimistic following Governor Murphy's announcement that he will allow gyms to open to 25 percent capacity, among other restrictions," said Moench. "Unfortunately, myself and many residents will have to continue to practice the wait and see approach. We have seen a false start on indoor dining and constantly moving targets and deadlines that have left our business community spinning. Hopefully we see follow through on this reopening and it creates momentum to safety reopen more sectors of the economy."
Moench is referring to when Murphy announced indoor dining could reopen only to "hit pause" and reverse his decision in late June. Read More: Gov. Murphy Postpones NJ Indoor Dining Reopen Amid Coronavirus
