BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Mayor Matthew Moench wore Hillsorough's football jersey as part of a friendly Mayor Challenge between Bridgewater and Hillsborough.

Moench challenged Hillsborough Mayor Shawn Lipani last week to a friendly contest where the outcome of the Bridgewater-Raritan High School vs Hillsborough High Scool football game would determine which mayor had to wear the opposite team's jersey to work afterward.

The teams played on Saturday where Bridgewater-Raritan lost 31 to 21 to Hillsborough.

Moench and Lipani met at Bridgewater on Monday to settle the debt.

"Unfortunately after a hard-fought game, Bridgewater came up a little bit short. So I am here today to live up to my end of the bargain," said Moench.

Lipani handed Moench a Hillsborough football jersey that was worn in 1995 by Lipani's brother.

"He was a quarterback for Hillsborough and I would like you to wear it. It was a very good game. Bridgewater played well and we hope to do this again in the future," said Lipani.

The mayors agreed they would like to keep this challenge a tradition for years to come.
