BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater Township and Atlantic Health are partnering up to help get district teachers vaccinated against COVID-19.
Bridgewater-Raritan Schools Superintendent Dr. Thomas Ficarra mentioned during the March 9 board meeting that Atlantic Health, which recently opened a new location at 1125 Route 22 West in Bridgewater, will be working with the school district to get teachers vaccinated.
"We are happy to assist in getting our staff vaccinated. School district personnel are essential and a vital part of the health of the entire community," said Ficarra.

The partnership was part of discussions between Atlantic Health and Bridgewater Township officials.
"Bridgewater Township appreciates the partnership and assistance of Atlantic Health in their offer to vaccinate the interested faculty and staff of the Bridgewater-Raritan School District," said Mayor Matthew Moench. "Since they have opened their facility in Bridgewater, we have communicated often and they have become a great partner in our community and this is another example of their solid corporate citizenship. I hope this program is executed efficiently and vaccine availability will become one less impediment to the full reopening of our schools."

Teachers wishing to be wishing to be vaccinated should register on the Atlantic Health website and they will be contacted when a vaccine is available for them. Appointments will be provided based on availability of vaccines at Atlantic Health's community vaccination sites and vaccine availability is tied directly to allocations from the state.
"At Atlantic Health System, our goal is to vaccinate every eligible person who wants to receive a vaccine. We are proud to work with county leadership in all of the communities we serve, to help ensure educators in local districts are entered into the pathway to get the vaccine at our community vaccination sites," said Ron Seman, a spokesman with Atlantic Health. "As has been the case since the start of the vaccination rollout, our ability to vaccinate individuals is dependent upon the supply we receive from the state, but getting eligible individuals such as teachers signed up as soon as possible makes this task that much easier once vaccine becomes available."
