“Every problem has an appropriate level of response,” Boguslavsky said. “Western medicine can be a bit of an overkill sometimes. Patient symptoms can sometimes be better addressed with fewer potential side effects through acupuncture or herbal therapy.”
This is when medical marijuana came into the picture for Boguslavsky. A few months ago, a patient he had been treating for a number of years with extreme anxiety, insomnia and pain said she went to see her daughter in California. She had gone to a medical marijuana dispensary and when she came back she said it was mind altering.

Boguslavsky looked more into this treatment and got certified and registered with the state.
“I’ve been overwhelmed by the positive response from my patients by how much need there is for providers of medical marijuana treatment,” Boguslavsky said, who noted he doesn’t believe there is anyone else that offers similar therapeutic options in the area.
Boguslavsky mainly perscribes medical marijuana for anxiety, chronic pain and migraines.
“It’s been wonderful to have this additional approach and patients are able to stop taking opioids and able to resume going to work. Some with Crohn's disease said they are substantially better managed. I am seeing real-life positive impacts.”
Boguslavsky does note that “medical marijuana is absolutely not a cure all for all diseases.”
He added that there are some side effects studies where 10 percent of patients will experience headaches or dizziness and less than one percent experience confusion.
“It’s a terrific form of treatment for patients who have tried other things and fallen short,” Boguslavsky said.
Boguslavsky understands some patients may be wary of this option but encourages locals to come in for a consultation.
