Bridgewater-Raritan HS Musical Sets Sail With 'Anything Goes'

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Nothing could be more “De-Lovely” than the hilarious musical romp Anything Goes as presented by the Theatre Arts Department at Bridgewater-Raritan High School (BRHS) this April 27 to 29.
Adapted from the 1987 Broadway revival, originally produced by Lincoln Center Theater, ANYTHING GOES transports audience members on a trans-Atlantic cruise from New York to London with a gangster, a nightclub singer, a love-sick Wall Street broker, members of high society, and a host of other zany characters. What could be more “Easy to Love” than a mad-capped romantic comedy anchored with Cole Porter’s heavenly music?!
ANYTHING GOES rounds out BRHS’ "Season of Unforgettable Journeys." With this season, co-directs Teresa Wallace-Gunning and Thomas Gunning wanted to explore both the literal and nonliteral journeys in each production.

With ANYTHING GOES, Wallace–Gunning muses, “It’s coming at a time when we need something light. You’re really going to feel good because the music is great, the dancing is great, and the kids are great.”
About “the kids,” Gunning himself chimes in, “It is why we are here and why we continue to be here - it is for them.”

Wallace-Gunning adds, “We came into this process because of a love of theatre but not with high expectations because of past experience from high school theatre. We had no idea of the talent here and it is consistent every year. They rise up to whatever we decide to throw at them.”
And what they've “thrown at them” is one of those great, old time musicals that offers up big musical numbers, tap dancing, and so much more!
ANYTHING GOES features music and lyrics by Cole Porter with the original book by P.G. Wodehouse, Guy Bolton, Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, and the new book by Timothy Crouse and John Weidman. ANYTHING GOES is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Tams-Witmark LLC.
To set sail for BRHS’ production of ANYTHING GOES, performances will be at 7 p.m. on April 27, 28 and 29 in the Bridgewater Raritan High School Auditorium, 600 Garretson Rd., Bridgewater.
Pre-sale tickets are available online at our.show/brhs-tad-ag for $15/adults and $7/students and seniors. Tickets will also be available at the door for $18/adults, $10/students and seniors.
