BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A new parking change is coming to the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional High School for the 2026-27 school year.

Seniors who are awarded a parking space at the high school will forfeit their bus privileges for the school year, according to information released by the district and a statement from Superintendent Robert Beers.

"Students who receive a parking pass will have their bus privileges rescinded," Beers said to Patch. "This is a common-sense approach, as seniors are either driving or taking the bus, etc. As we stated in our communications, if students have a long-term issue that prevents them from driving themselves, we can add them back to the bus rosters."

The district said students who later have a change in circumstances, including loss of a vehicle, may request to be added back to the bus roster.

The district also said that the process is not immediate and that bus transportation is not intended as a short-term arrangement.

Students added back to the bus roster will have their parking privilege rescinded, and parking fees are non-refundable.

It is unclear if this change in senior parking will result in monetary savings for the district.

Applications are being accepted through the Parent Portal section of PowerSchool under Forms and BRHS Forms.

The annual parking fee is $125.

Students do not need a driver’s license to purchase a space, according to the district.

But the district said students must have a valid New Jersey driver’s license, including a temporary license, to pick up a parking tag and park on campus. August pickup dates are to be announced.
