Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School Students To Perform At Regional Ensemble

Twenty students from the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School were accepted into the CJMEA Regional Ensembles.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — The Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District will be well represented when the Central Jersey Music Educators Association (CJMEA) holds its regional ensembles in March.

Twenty students from the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School were accepted into the CJMEA Regional Ensembles.

Thirty Middle School students joined a total of 526 students who participated in the auditions that were held January 28 at the Community Middle School in Hillsborough.

Here are the 20 Middle School students who will compete in the two concerts in March, listed with their instruments:

  • Lucia Bolle - Piccolo (first overall!)
  • Lucia Bolle - Flute (She will be accepting the piccolo spot)
  • Joanna Xu - Clarinet
  • Andrew Zeng - Clarinet
  • Kaitlyn Chu - Clarinet
  • Tony Ju - Clarinet
  • Rhia Evans - Clarinet
  • Shiven Das - Alto Saxophone
  • Zoe Mihalik - Bari Saxophone
  • Jacky Pan - Trombone
  • Corbin Jimenez - Trombone
  • Yashoda Sivaramakrishnan - French Horn
  • Heewon Park - Violin
  • Soobin Kim - Violin
  • Calyne Paek - Violin
  • Angela Gong - Violin
  • Alina Zhu - Viola
  • Guanqi Zhu - Viola
  • Achyut Nuli - Viola
  • Edha Gupta - Bass (first overall!)

Their Middle School directors are thrilled—and very proud–of their acceptance into the two ensembles.

Baron Caromano is the 8th Grade Band and Jazz Ensemble Director and Ashlen Udell is the 7th Grade Band and Wind Ensemble Director. Maria Ramsay is the Director of the 8th Grade Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra and Catherine Butler is the 7th Grade Orchestra Director.

"They auditioned and prepared a solo and sight reading scales performances for the judges," Udell reported on the auditions that day in Hillsborough.

Ramsay spoke about how hard their students prepared

"They have been working for months. This was very challenging and we are very proud of them," Ramsay said.

The Bridgewater-Middle School will be one of the host schools for the March concerts.

The CJMEA Region Band Ensemble is scheduled for Sunday, March 5, at 3 p.m. in the Middle School auditorium.

A week later on Sunday, March 12, the CJMEA Region Orchestra Ensemble will be staged at Piscataway High School at 3 p.m.

Tickets will go on sale one week before each concert. Ticket prices for the concert are as follows: $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors
