Bridgewater Rutgers Goalie Named To U.S. National Team Roster
Casey Murphy will take part in a 3-week training camp in Carson, Calif. as the U.S. team enters the final World Cup prep

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater native and Rutgers women’s soccer junior goalkeeper Casey Murphy has been named to the U.S. Under-20 Women’s National Team roster.
Murphy will take part in the almost three-week training camp that will conclude with the 2016 U-20 Women’s NTC Invitational as the U.S. team enters its final stages of preparations for the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s world Cup.
Murphy has been with the U-20 squad throughout 2016 after being called up last year, most recently training from July 6 to 15 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California. Murphy also spent time with the U.S. from June 15 to 23 in Efland, North Carolina, from May 21 to June 1 for a World Cup test run in Papua New Guinea, and from March 2 to 6 in La Manga, Spain.

Murphy, a 2015 NSCAA Second Team All-American and Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year, played every minute of every match for Rutgers last year, tallying 80 saves and 19 shutouts while allowing just 10 goals. RU’s GAA (0.37), shutout total, and shutout percentage (.731) led the NCAA, while the team’s save percentage of .894 was third-best in the nation.
Head coach Michelle French will choose the final roster for the tournament prior to the start of the games.
