Bridgewater Schools Switch To Virtual Ahead Of Icy Weather

Due to predicted icy conditions, there will be no in-person instruction for Bridgewater-Raritan students Tuesday.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — The Bridgewater-Raritan School district switched students to virtual on Tuesday due to predicted "icy conditions and concerns for the safety of our students."

The district sent out an alert early Tuesday morning announcing that no in-person instruction would occur on Tuesday. Students would instead switch to virtual.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Somerset County Tuesday through 4 a.m. on Wednesday by the National Weather Service.

Mixed precipitation with snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of around one-tenth of an inch are predicted, according to the NWS.

"Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute," according to the NWS.

Bridgewater's Department of Public Works has already been out Tuesday morning salting the roadways ahead of the icy weather.
