Bridgewater Shelter Takes In Dogs From Severe Hoarding Case
The dogs were among hundreds found living in inhumane conditions in a Shamong home. 44 dead dogs were also found in freezers.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — The Somerset Regional Animal Shelter in Bridgewater took in five dogs from the hundreds that were rescued from a Burlington County woman's home, which also had 44 dead dogs in the freezer on Tuesday, New Jersey State Police said.
The five dogs taken to Bridgewater were Havanese and range in age from 1-and-a-half years old to about seven-years-old, SRAS Director Brian Bradshaw said.
The shelter is in need of donations to cover the medical costs to help these dogs.

"They need full medical care and need to be shaved down to see if there is any skin infections or ear infections," Bradshaw said. "Their toe nails are also very overgrown, they have to be spayed or neutered and be checked for worms or internal parasites."
Bradshaw also noted the dogs' teeth were in "pretty bad shape" and will need dental work due to eating an improper diet.

Overall, the three female and two male dogs are friendly but shy. Once they have been cared for and treated, the dogs will be able to be put up for adoption.
