1 Dead In Bridgewater Shooting On Father's Day Eve
Foothill Road has been reopened following an investigation by the Bridgewater Police and the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office on Sunday.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — One man was fatally shot in Bridgewater on the eve of Father's Day, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said.
A 911 call shortly after 11:53 p.m. on Saturday reported a person suffering from a gunshot wound in a car driving on North Bridge Street towards Route 22, Robertson said.
Somerville and Bridgewater Police found the car driving on Route East with the injured man inside. Police began lifesaving measures before emergency personnel arrived. The man was then taken to an area trauma center where he was pronounced dead, Robertson said.

The shooting was found to have occurred at a home in the area of Foothill Road and Bayberry Road.
When Bridgewater Police went to the home numerous people were seen leaving the home on Bayberry Road with some still inside, Robertson said.

Police set up a perimeter around the home and issued a shelter-in-place for surrounding residents.
New Jersey State Police Troopers from the Somerville Barracks, the Somerset County SWAT team and the County Crisis Negotiators arrived and spoke with the five people inside the home who agreed to leave.
Bridgewater Police Department detectives along with detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Crime Scene Investigations Unit are still investigating the homicide.
Foothill Road was closed between Somerville Road and Crestwood Drive until around 11:30 a.m. for the police investigation.
