The conference is held each July in Las Vegas. Beacon students attend specialized classes with the biggest names in the industry. They also will attend the North American Hairstylist Awards, a Business Forum and other events. All of these programs help the students gain a firm understanding of the industry. Beacon students attend specially designed breakout sessions that focus on interviewing for jobs, leadership skills, entrepreneurship and more, according to a release from RVCC.

Students apply for the Beacon program by submitting a professional resume, a marketing piece that represents their portfolio, and a letter of recommendation. This year more than 1,000 students applied and 300 were selected.
