NJ Teacher Put To The Test, To Compete On FOX TV Game Show

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — The tables have turned as Bridgewater-Raritan teacher Phillip Solomon will be put to the test in FOX's TV game show "You Bet Your Life" on Tuesday night.

Solomon, a Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School 7th Grade Language Arts teacher, will appear as a contestant on the reboot game show, originally from the 1940's, now hosted by Jay Leno.

"Honestly, it won't feel real to me until the episode has aired," said Solomon.

Solomon will be paired with a complete stranger as they both work as a team to answer questions about pop culture, revolving around a random theme.

"It was such a surreal experience going from the teacher who is always in control, to the contestant, on the receiving end of the questions. I truly gained a new respect for my kids, answering questions and being vulnerable in front of an audience," said Solomon.

While Solomon can't share how he does on the show he does say that "above all, I'm happy about how I did and the experience as a whole."

"The world has been heavy and a lot to navigate, and I've had this big 'carpe diem' attitude towards life, on the tail-end of this pandemic. Who you see on television is exactly who my students see each day in the classroom and my clients see at the gym, a millennial who is passionate, sincere, and just trying to make a difference in the world," said Solomon.
