Bridgewater Troop 154 Enjoys Whirlwind Spring Tour
Scouts BSA Troop 154, Pluckemin visited New England Friday, April 5 – Sunday, April 7 for their annual Spring Tour.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Scouts BSA Troop 154, Pluckemin visited New England Friday, April 5 – Sunday, April 7 for their annual Spring Tour.
The travel itinerary spanned three states (CT, RI & MA) and included multiple sites/museums, with a focus on all things nautical, naval, and maritime. 13 scouts and 5 leaders were in attendance.
Day 1 began in Groton, CT with a visit to the Submarine Force Museum & USS Nautilus. Next, the troop traveled to Newport, RI where they experienced a private tour of the US Coast Guard Station Castle Hill and enjoyed an Improv Show performed by the Bit Players before bedding down at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

Day 2 included tours of the Artillery Company of Newport, Fort Adams, and the International Yacht Restoration School (IYRS). Then, the troop headed to Battleship Cove in Fall River, MA for an unforgettable overnight experience aboard the USS Massachusetts. The scouts slept on authentic sailors’ racks and enjoyed “chow style” meals served in the original Officers’ Wardroom.
Day 3 allowed the troop additional time to explore Battleship Cove, including the Destroyer Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Then it was time to head home, but not before stopping in Mystic, CT to visit the Mystic Seaport Museum on the way back.

Troop 154, under the leadership of Scoutmaster Michael Richards, meets Friday evenings during the school year at the Pluckemin Presbyterian Church.
