Bridgewater Woman's Club To Host Presentation, Food Drive

The free event will raise awareness and promote a sense of unity in tackling the pressing issue of hunger in New Jersey.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — The Bridgewater Woman's Club is hosting a presentation and food drive to support Hunger Action Month in NJ.

This in-person event will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the Bridgewater-Somerset County Library, 1 Vogt Drive, Bridgewater,.

Jackie Schiffer, Ms. NJ International 2023 and founder of NJ Hunger Heroes has been engaged to speak about food insecurity, its types and main causes, as well as "food deserts" in our local community and statewide in N.J.

Schiffer will also engage the audience in ways the community can help feed our local families in need.

Schiffer has traveled more than 1,000 miles across the state of NJ to connect with and learn from local food insecurity organizations. She has served as the food security task force leader for the NJ Junior Leagues State & Public Affairs Committee.

In August, she was named a UNA-USA Global Goals Ambassador, Schiffer is a 2nd year master's candidate in diplomacy/development studies at the University of Peace/United Nations Institute of Training and Research.

The Bridgewater Woman's Club asks that attendees contribute non-perishable food items for the food drive to be donated in support of a local food pantry working tirelessly to combat hunger.

Contributions can make a significant difference in the lives of those in need.
