Bridgewater Woman's Club Sponsors Delegates To Girl's Career Institute

The BRHS Junior girls attended a four-day "mini college and career exploration experience."

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — The Bridgewater Woman's Club (BWC) sent four BRHS junior girls to the Girl's Career Institute (GCI) at Douglass Residential College on the campus of Rutgers University.

In conjunction with the NJ State Federation of Woman's Clubs (NJSFWC), GCI offers a four day "mini college and career exploration experience."

Delegates experience college life by living in a dorm and attending lectures and workshops. They learn about career choices from volunteer professional speakers and attend a variety of career related seminars given by successful women from NJ. They network with more than 150 delegates from all over the state.

Participants may take part in a variety of service projects as well as mindfulness sessions, Zumba classes, swimming, GCI Chorus, Talent Night, and an art exhibit.

The delegates are chosen on the basis of interest, community service and participation in school activities. Delegates are sponsored and the cost is underwritten by a local NJSFWC club. In this case, the BWC. Club members also assist at the registration desk and serve as dorm mothers.
