BRMS Drama Club Gives Memorable Performance Of 'Legally Blonde Jr.'

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A memorable performance was not only enjoyed by the audience, but one drama critic will forever cherish it.

Olivia Matko, the Drama Club and Musical Advisor at the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School, applauded a production she will forever remember.

The Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School Drama Club students and staff presented "Legally Blonde Jr." before an attentive audience in the school auditorium that included fellow schoolmates during the day and family and friends in the evening on Friday, May 2.

Matko, who served as the musical’s director with Francesca DiFazio and Julia Meisterich, provided her review — and it was quite positive.

"I am so proud of every person involved in this year's musical! The show ran as smoothly as we could have hoped for, and that is due to the dedication and commitment of the cast and crew," Matko shared.

According to Wikipedia, "Legally Blonde" is a 2007 musical with music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Neil Benjamin and a book by Heather Hach. It is based on the novel "Legally Blonde" by Amanda Brown and the 2011 film of the same name.

The show tells the story of Elle Wood, a sorority girl who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend, Warner. She discovers how her knowledge of the law can help others, and she successfully defends exercise queen Brooke Wyndham in a murder trial. Throughout the show, very few characters have faith in Elle, with the exception of her aesthetician Paulette, but she manages to surprise them when she defies expectations while staying true to herself.

Matko’s glowing report was matched by many satisfied customers.

"After both the in-school and evening performances, I heard nothing but positive comments about the singing, dancing, acting, sets, and overall energy," Matko stated.

Before Matko closed the curtain, she added:

"This particular cast and crew are very special and created a memorable show that I will hold very close to my heart."
