Brush Fire Spreads, Damages Home In Somerset County

The dry, hot weather continues to be a problem as volunteer firefighters battled a fire on Wednesday.

MANVILLE, NJ — What started as a brush fire spread to a house fire in Manville on Wednesday morning.

At around 10:43 a.m., Manville DPW workers reported a fire sparked in the landscaping next to a house on Bound Brook Avenue and spread to the vinyl siding, said Manville Lt. John Crater.

While a resident was home at the time there were no reported injuries.

The damage was contained to the exterior of the home. The home is still livable, said Crater.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Along with Manville firefighters, Finderne Fire Department also came to help.
