SOMERVILLE, NJ — Bubbakoo’s Burritos, a Jersey Shore-based eatery that touts Mexican food fused with American funkiness, opened its newest location in Somerville.

Located at 936 Route 22, the new restaurant is owned and operated by Brandon Shamy, Jesse Allen and Amanda Taibe, and is the 18th location to open in New Jersey. The Somerville location, which opened on Nov. 20, is Bubbakoo’s third off the shoreline.

“I loved Bubbakoo’s food, and from a business perspective, I heard they were producing healthy numbers and had impressive systems in place,” Allen stated.

“We came together and knew that we not only made a great team, but with Bubbakoo’s we will be able to produce a great product, provide great service and have a chance to give back to our community,” Shamy added.

Bubbakoo’s Burritos offers the usual fast-casual burrito fare such as burritos, bowls, tacos, salad, nachos and quesadillas, but with 16 different protein options — including fried chicken, barbecue pork, Buffalo shrimp and grilled steak, as well as some more unusual flavors such as ghost pepper chicken and sriracha pork.

Beyond the menu, Bubbakoo’s offers an environment reflecting the eatery’s Shore roots, that include a host of regional beachside designs.

The Somerville location is open Monday through Friday from 10:45 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
