Burglar 'Crowbarred Kitchen Window, Crawled' In Bridgewater Home

Police were seen running through yards with guns out and K-9 units looking for the man who broke into the home with the owner inside.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A man who broke into a Bridgewater home on Friday while the owner was inside has been arrested by police.

The burglary occurred to a home on Martin Court in the Martinsville section of the township around 11 a.m. on Friday.

The homeowner shared on a Bridgewater community social media page that the man "came in via the deck. Crow bared the kitchen window off the deck. Crawled through. Stole money. Walked out the deck door."

Police interrupted the crime and the burglar attempted to flee the area, Bridgewater Police Lt. Michael Maxwell reported.

Bridgewater residents in the area reported seeing police with guns and K-9 units running through neighbor's yards in the area of neighbor's property off Winslow Drive and Martin Court.

"They had their guns drawn. Neighbor's home was broken into while neighbor was home," one resident wrote.

"OMG..we live on Winslow. It was a scary sight seeing so many police cars and K-9 unit. I called Bridgewater police to find out what was going on, they assured me that it was just some alarm incident. This is shocking. Was suppose to be a safe neighborhood. Thank god no one was hurt," said another resident.

Police were able to arrest the man. The investigation is ongoing, Maxwell said.
