Car Crashes Into Utility Pole Causing Fire On Route 202 Friday

The crash was reported on Route 202 near the Raritan and Bridgewater border early Friday morning.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A car crash and a fire were reported early Friday morning on Route 202 South in Bridgewater, Bradley Gardens Volunteer Fire Company said.

A black BMW SUV reportedly crashed into a utility pole with wires causing it to fall down and catch fire around 2:30 a.m. between Ortho Drive and the Bridgewater Towne Center, BGVFC said.

Although the crash was cleared shortly after by responding fire departments, Route 202 south remained closed for emergency utility repairs until about 9 a.m., authorities said.

Bridgewater Police did not immediately respond with information on the driver.
