Car Ignites Into Flames Off Somerville Circle

RARITAN, NJ — Raritan Firefighters battled a car fire where flames spread to a second vehicle on Monday afternoon.

The fire was reported in the parking lot of Mavis Discount Tire on Route 206 off the Somerville Circle in Raritan.

Raritan Borough Fire Department helped put out the fire with the help of Somerville Fire Department. Robert Wood Johnson EMS and Somerset County Hazmat also came out.

The fire did spread from the car to a black SUV parked next to it.

No one was in the vehicles at the time and there were no reported injuries, according to Raritan Borough Fire Chief Brian Kredatus.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
