Car Veers Off I-287, Crashes Down Embankment Into Creek In Bridgewater

Green Knoll Volunteer firefighters helped with the recovery of the car on Saturday morning.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A car veered off Interstate 287 South and crashed down an embankment before overturning in a creek on Saturday.

At 6:31 a.m. on Jan. 3, New Jersey State Police(NJSP) Troopers were called to a motor vehicle crash at on I-287 South at milepost 18.2 in Bridgewater just before exit 17 for the Route 202/206 exit.

Based on a preliminary investigation, the driver of a Toyota sedan lost control, veered off the highway to the left into the woods and overturned, said NJSP Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron.

The Green Knoll Fire Department was called and found the car down an embankment into a creek.

The driver got out on their own before authorities arrived and had minor injuries. Firefighters stoodby at the crash until the car was recovered, said the fire department.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available.
