Bridgewater, NJ: The Arc of Somerset County was recently the recipient of a $7,500 Federal Home Loan Bank of New York Small Business Recovery Grant Program that was coordinated by Magyar Bank.

The program allows the Bank to assist non-profit organizations and local businesses throughout its marketplace that met the program qualifications and provide much needed support to those who have been negatively impacted by the pandemic.
“COVID-19 certainly changed all of our lives and it had a tremendous effect on our operations, our employees , those we serve and their families” states Lauren Frary, Executive Director for The Arc of Somerset County.
“This federal grant has allowed for us to continue the important services we provide to children and adults living with intellectual and developmental disabilities with reduced staff, and it has allowed for us to recoup the costs of critical personal protection equipment for both our staff and those we serve”.
Magyar Bank announced that it has distributed $100,000 in grant funding provided by the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York Small Business Recovery Grant Program. The program allowed the Bank to assist non-profit organizations and local businesses throughout its marketplace that met the program qualifications and provide much needed support to those who have been negatively impacted by the pandemic.
“As a Bank that has been around for nearly 100 years, Magyar Bank has seen its share of economic downturns, but the pandemic has caused unprecedented damage to our local economy,” stated John Fitzgerald, President and Chief Executive Officer. “The local organizations and small businesses that we were able to assist are a significant part of our region’s economy, and we are pleased to provide them with this funding through our partnership with FHLBNY.”
The awarded grant was recognized at the recent “Clubs for Cabins” fundraiser for The Arc of Somerset County’s Camp Jotoni Renovation Cabin Project at Raritan Valley Country Club, September 14th 2020.
