COVID Pivots Bridgewater School Reorganization Meeting To Virtual

The Bridgewater-Raritan Board of Education meeting scheduled on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. will now take place remotely.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — As COVID-19 cases climb, Bridgewater-Raritan Board of Education has shifted its upcoming reorganization meeting to entirely virtual.

The meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 4, was originally scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional High School. Instead, the meeting will be live-streamed for the public on the District website brrsd.org.

No school buildings will be open.

Those unable to access the meeting via the internet can listen in by dialing into the conference line.

At the meeting, Stacey Friedlander, Jennifer Loughran, and Ashish "AJ" Joshi will be sworn into office as board members following their successful win in the 2021 election.

A new board president will also be chosen during the meeting

This BOE meeting change follows the district's switch to half days for students due to an increase in statewide cases of COVID-19.

Superintendent Robert Beers announced on Dec. 30 that students would be returning from winter break to a virtual learning day on Monday, Jan. 3. Read More: Bridgewater Schools To Go Virtual, Half Days Due To COVID Surge

Then starting Tuesday, Jan. 4, the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District will move to an early dismissal schedule for the remainder of the week. Lunch will not be served on the early dismissal days so that students can remain masked.

As of Monday, Jan. 3, the school district reported 91 new COVID-19 cases.
