'Dance' With Over 40 Students Under Investigation In Bridgewater

Bridgewater Raritan Schools said this was not a "school-sanctioned event" and is investigating.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A event or dance, where more than 40 students were pictured without masks and not adhering to social distancing guidelines, is under investigation by Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District.

"It has been brought to the attention of the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District that there was a photo posted to twitter labeled as an event using an account for BR Football where students were pictured without masks and not adhering to social distancing guidelines. We want the community to know that this is not a school-sanctioned event and the school district is investigating the matter," the district stated on its website.

A picture of the dance was reportedly tweeted on Thursday on by @LegacyFootball1, but the account has since been set to private.

Hillsborough Clerk Pam Borek said the township is also looking into the matter as the dance reportedly happened at a venue in the township.

According to New Jersey's coronavirus guidelines, indoor gatherings must be limited to 100 people or 25 percent of a room's capacity — whichever number is lower. All attendees at indoor gatherings must also wear face coverings and stay six feet apart.

Outdoor gatherings must be limited to 500 people and social distancing must be practiced.

Murphy announced Monday that he was limiting indoor gatherings to 25 people and 25 percent capacity per room, reversing a previous increase to 100 people due to the coronavirus transmission rate nearly doubling what it was a month ago. Read More: Gov. Murphy Limits Indoor Gatherings To 25 People

In Toms River, there was also a report of 85 kids at a pool party and a house party in Middletown where as many as 20 young adults have tested positive for coronavirus.
